Well…I had previously thought Zuckerberg was just a lucky little prick who needs to get punched in the face because people who fall ass-backwards into a great thing then call themselves “role models” and “entreprenuers” all need to get punched in the face…

But this actually makes me jealous. Billions of dollars of net worth? Don’t care. Worldwide recognition and fame? Good for him, needs a punch in the face… Getting a Simpsons character of himself in an actual episode? Son of a B*****!!

Skype released for iOS 4, receives calls in background

Here is a little ray of sunshine for all you iOS 4 Skype users out there. Skype has just released a new version of their iPhone application, and it supports multitasking! The build is officially listed as 2.0.1 in the App Store, however the release notes read:

Version 2.1

Run Skype in the background with multitasking in iOS4. Receive Skype calls and IM while other apps are running or when your iPhone is locked.You can also continue your call while you switch to another application.

Sadly, there is no support for video chat with the iPhone 4’s front facing camera. Maybe next time. Hit up the read link to open up iTunes and grab the new bits.Read (iTunes Link)

Finally! Man this will rock…I am also looking forward to the video chat if it happens. I doubt it though since it would be directly replicating FaceTime…we’ll see…

Dear Nokia,

Do you know nothing about PR? Do you not know that Apple Fanboi nation will target you with videos like this because you came out and insulted their demi-god?

No matter how long I’ve been in product marketing I will never understand why people publicly focus on their competition so much. Of course you need paranoid focus on any and all competitors but don’t make that paranoia public. Focus on making great products that speak for themselves. You said Apple shouldn’t drag you into their media debacle but you just did the dragging yourself…dumb…

This alone almost makes Chrome worth it. Now you can annotate conversations in your GMAil or Google Apps account with information to remind you of stuff.

Its basically a Post-it note system for your GMail which makes it ideal for me since Post-It has been my memory mapping and organization system for the past….well forever!

Give it a try. Really useful.

When I first heard about this I thought to myself “oh great, first Andreessen falls ass-backward into a school project and Jim Clark (the real mastermind) turns him into the Internet equivalent of a huge porn star and now we have Andreessen 2.0″…

But from the looks of this trailer, this might actually be an interesting movie…it doesn’t hurt that it uses Radiohead’s “Creep” and that oddly captures the weird desire of people to get more “friends” online and be “accepted” online. “Creep” wierdly still applies to Web2.0/Social Media/whatchamacallits as well.

That very artistic observation in and of itself makes this movie more intriguing… Kudos to the producers so far…

In June, BP placed a cap, known as an LMRP cap, over the top of the Deepwater Horizon well so oil could be collected at the surface. However, this continued to leak oil and has now been replaced with a better fitting device.

When engineers removed the LMRP cap on 10 July, oil began to freely flow from the top of the blowout preventer once more. However, the Q4000 containment system continued to take some oil to the surface.

Engineers have now bolted a new capping stack onto the blowout preventer (BOP). A series of tests will be conducted to see if the flow of oil can be stopped using the newly installed equipment.

During the test the three ram capping stack will be closed and all sub-sea containment systems that are collecting the oil will be temporarily suspended, effectively blocking the flow of oil from the well.

BP has also hooked up a floating riser pipe to the Helix Producer ship to provide a further route to the surface for oil. These will be used to collect the oil from the well once the tests have been successfully completed.
